U.S. Navy Ensign Joel Andrew Tidd, son of Iolan David Tidd and the late Julie Tidd, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., Friday.
Tidd completed four years of intensive academic, physical and professional training, which resulted in him receiving a bachelor of science degree with a major in applied mathematics.
Next up for Tidd is assignment to Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Charleston, S.C., where he will begin training to become a submarine officer.
Tidd is a 2009 graduate of Iola High School.
